John Brownlie was born c1776 and was married on 7 August 1801 in Dundee[1], Angus to Janet Beveridge born c1778 in Leslie, Fifeshire and died 4 August 1869 in Strathaven, Avondale[2].[3]

They had issue:

John Brownlie was born 29 April 1819 in Avondale[4], a weaver who was married on 10 June 1842 in Avondale[5], Lanarkshire to Martha Fleming born 13 February 1823 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire. John Brownlie died 20 May 1848 in Avondale, Lanarkshire and Martha died 12 February 1908 in Strathaven, Avondale. Martha was the son of Adam Fleming born 30 March 1797 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire and Agnes Morrison born 11 September 1794 and they were married in December 1817 in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire.[6]

Adam Brownlie was born c1845 possibly Strathaven, Avondale, died 1902.  Married on 16 November 1866 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire to Agnes Nimmo a daughter of Joseph Nimmo (born c1813 in Strathaven, Avondale Lanarkshire. He was married on 5 October 1833 in Ardrossan, Ayrshire and died 24 May 1877 in Strathaven. Joseph’s parents were Archibald Nimmo and Isabel McGowan and they were married on 12 June 1790 at Avondale) and Janet Armour (born 26 June 1814 in Stevenston, Ayr and died 12 June 1884 in Strathaven, Avondale, Lanarkshire. Janet’s parents were William Armou,r born 1786 and Agnes Wilson born 13 December 1789 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire and they were married in Stevenston, Ayrshire).[7]

1. Lilias Brownlie was born in 1864 in Chapleton (probably near Strathaven) Scotland, died 1902.  Married Alexander Sandilands, born 4 November 186, Lesmahagow, Scotland.  Came to Australia in 1912, died Warwick Queensland, 25 December 1939.

1. Martha Sandilands was born 26 May 1889 Lesmahagow Scotland, died 26 May 1973 Brisbane Queensland.  Married Richard Bryden, born Dumfries, Scotland 26 December 1887, died 10 September 1967 Warwick Queensland.

1. John Alexander Bryden was born in Pittsworth Queensland on 21 November 1915. He served in the R.A.A.F. and was killed in the Battle of Britain on 10 September 1942.

2. Lillian Mary Bryden was born in Oakey Queensland on 24 October 1917.  She was married on 9 August 1947 to Colin Alexander Ham who was born in Brisbane Queensland on 23 July 1925.
