Katherine Houston Brownlee

Katherine Houston Brownlee died on Monday, March 14, 2005, in Houston, Texas at the age of 79. She was born on September 9, 1925, in El Paso, Texas to U.S. Army Colonel O. P. Houston and wife, Katherine Dinwiddie Houston. Mrs. Brownlee was a graduate of The University of Texas, and worked as a travel agent in Austin for over 40 years until her retirement in 2001. During her lifetime, Mrs. Brownlee served as a member of the Junior League of Austin and The Settlement Club, and was also a member of the Supper Club of Austin and The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Mrs Brownlee’s husband was Austin attorney and former Texas Assistant Attorney, General Houghton Brownlee, Jr., who had died earlier. Her daughter, Lucy Brownlee also died before her. She was survived by her daughter, Katherine Brownlee Love, and Katherine’s husband, Jeff Love, grandchildren Benton F. Love, III and Elizabeth Houston Love, her son, John Houghton Brownlee, III, and his wife, Linda G. Brownlee, grandchildren James Scott Brownlee and John Stephen Brownlee, her sisters, Elizabeth Monroe and Jeanne Harris, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 22, 2005, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin, followed by a reception at Tarry House. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 5176, Austin, Texas 78763.
